But the beauty
of this part of the lower Salento isn’t only the sea, it’s the people,
welcoming, scattered among an array of tiny villages, all in close
proximity,almost linked.
And the
festivals, the feasts in the towns during summer, offering
tourists the chance not only to socialise but to sample the culture and
traditions, culinary first and foremost, of this part of Italy.
Festivals in
the piazza which finish with popular dances like the pizzica,
typical Salentine music, the passion of local people. And the interior
is as magical as the coast: historic town centres of
inimitable beauty, fields of ancient olive trees set among
stonestacked huts, conical shaped, which together with the rustic stone
walls which delineate property, show the industriousness of Salentine
folk.
